Context
We’re in the digital era, and a brand’s online presence is a must - but not always enough. Splash, a green micro mobility brand offering scooter rentals in Bucharest, came to us with a really cool brief: a real-life activation, not just digital, for their partnership with the well-known Nostalgia festival.
Challenge
To create a real-life activation aligned with the Splash brand, its values, the context of Nostalgia, and the shared target audience of both brands - while delivering both awareness and commercial benefits (new users).
Solution
Splash’s activation for the Nostalgia festival aimed primarily to increase brand visibility among a young, urban audience and attract new users through a memorable digital activation. The focus was on awareness and simple gamification, in a retro setting full of emotion and positive energy.
Splash Stand - the on-site activation
We designed a retro-style booth inspired by the staircase area of apartment blocks, where people used to hang out and chat. The decor quickly caught people’s attention and became a popular spot for socializing and taking photos.
At the stand, two hostesses with tablets invited attendees to enter a contest - a quiz with 3 questions inspired by retro song lyrics. Answers were quick, and prizes were awarded on the spot.
The App - the digital element
The app was designed to work with just a few screens, being simple and easy to use. After answering the 3 questions, users instantly found out whether they won a physical prize or free minutes with Splash scooters.
We built a simple, intuitive, and interactive app for Splash to support a quiz-style activation across just a few screens—all delivered in a short execution time and naturally integrated into the festival context.
How it works: a mini-quiz with 3 questions inspired by famous retro lyrics, with instant prizes given through a “winning positions” mechanism (offering in-app or physical prizes like t-shirts or backpacks).
