As the use of AI expands across legal professions, it is becoming increasingly clear that generic artificial intelligence models are not built for the real complexity of legal decision-making.
The first legal AI applications emerged with the promise of accelerating legal research and reducing the time needed for preliminary analysis. Language models can quickly synthesize information, explain legal concepts, and generate document drafts.
These tools are useful, especially in the exploratory stages of a case or in administrative tasks. In many situations, they provide a fast starting point for analysis.
However, their usefulness reaches a limit when the legal question becomes truly complex.
Generic AI models are built to predict text, not to apply legal reasoning in the traditional sense of the profession. More than a theoretical initiative, Benvolio is already used in the day-to-day work of the Țuca Zbârcea & Asociații team, which means its development is continuously validated in real working contexts. This close connection to legal practice is what sets it apart from a generic tool and makes it a platform built around the way lawyers actually analyze, argue, and make decisions.
Benvolio does not treat law as a simple text-generation exercise, but as a process that must be supported by clarity, structure, and accountability. In this sense, the project reflects a mature direction for the use of AI in the legal field: one grounded in the reality of the profession, not just in the promise of technology.
